- Plan your packing: Make a list of the rooms in your home and decide which items you will pack first. It is often helpful to start with the less essential rooms and pack the frequently used rooms last.
- Gather all supplies: Make sure you have all the necessary packing materials on hand before you start. In addition to the autolock moving boxes, you will need wrapping paper, bubble wrap, and labels or markers.
- Keep similar items together: Pack items that belong together in the same box. This makes unpacking easier because you don't have to search for loose parts. For example, keep books together, kitchen utensils together, and clothes together.
- Fill the boxes correctly: Fill the autolock boxes efficiently to prevent damage to your items. Use wrapping paper or bubble wrap for fragile items and fill empty spaces with padding material such as wrapping paper or bubble wrap to prevent items from shifting.
- Label the boxes clearly: Clearly label each box with its contents and its destination in your new home. Use colors, a different color for each room.
-
Prioritize important boxes: Label some boxes as “Essential” or “Immediately Needed.” These boxes should contain items you’ll need right away after the move, such as toiletries, important documents, and basic kitchen utensils.
- Pay attention to the weight: The autolock boxes are very sturdy and reliable, but it is important not to pack the boxes too heavy. Fill heavy items, such as books, together with light objects to prevent them from becoming too heavy and difficult to lift.
How to pack?
Fragile objects (glass and crockery)
- Wrap fragile items such as glasses and plates completely in bubble wrap for extra protection against shocks. Make sure the bubbles are facing inward. Wrap the items tightly.
- Fill the empty spaces with additional stuffing such as newspaper, wrapping paper or bubble wrap. Make sure there are no empty spaces in the box.
- Clearly mark boxes containing fragile items as 'fragile' to ensure they are handled with care.

Books
- Pack the books tightly: place the books upright in the box (as they would be in a bookcase), and make sure they are pressed tightly against each other to prevent them from sliding around.
- Fill the bottom layer with books, and top up with lighter items or filler material.
Clothing
- Sort your clothes: Start by sorting your clothes by season. Clothes that you won't need in the coming months, such as thick winter coats or summer dresses. Pack these immediately!
- Label the boxes clearly: Write on the box which season it is.
- Are your clothes hanging? Pack a few items with drawstring garbage bags. Open the garbage bag, pull it from bottom to top over about 8 items (depending on the thickness of the clothes). Then pull the drawstring tight and tie it shut.
